Remember to prioritize your puppy's comfort and safety when choosing these items.
Choose a high-quality dry or wet food specifically designed for medium-sized breed puppies. Ensure that the food is enriched with all the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and development. If you plan to feed a natural diet, consult with me, as I have quite a bit of experience. Also, consider reading the article 'The Diet I Recommend.'
We are proponents of a balanced natural diet for dogs. However, our puppies are introduced to dry food from an early age. We prefer the 'Luposan' brand and recommend it to all our graduates
Purchase two bowls, one for food and one for water. Avoid plastic bowls; it's better to use stainless steel or ceramic bowls. Staffordshire Bull Terriers tend to eat quickly, so the type of bowl doesn't matter much. Ensure that clean water is always available, while food should be served on a schedule and not left in the bowl.
Purchase a comfortable bed or bedding for your puppy to provide them with a place to rest and sleep. Choose a size that suits their age to ensure there's enough space for growth. Staffordshire Bull Terriers often dig and chew, so your choice of bedding is important. Be cautious with beds that have wooden frames, as they can be quite interesting for chewing. It's best to select a durable yet soft material that doesn't make noise. We prefer the brand Harley&Cho.
Provide your puppy with several different types of toys, including balls, chew toys, and soft toys. Toys will help keep them occupied when you can't give them direct attention and also aid in their mental development. You can read more about different types of toys in our article on training.
Purchase a soft brush and comb for grooming your puppy's coat. Regular grooming helps maintain the cleanliness of their fur and strengthens the bond between you. You don't need a thousand grooming tools for your Staffordshire Bull Terrier. A rubber brush is ideal for Staffies, as it removes loose hair during baths and dry grooming. Just be sure to groom them regularly.
Don't forget to purchase the appropriate collar and leash for walking your puppy and teaching them to walk on a leash. Of course, your puppy will receive their initial gear from the breeder. However, as they grow, you'll need to select new, adult-sized equipment. In this regard, comfort is key. In the summer, consider using biothane sets, while in the winter, opt for classic textiles. I have provided detailed information in our blog article titled 'Gear.'
Additionally, you can purchase lotion for ear, eye, and dental care for your puppy. Also, make sure to buy shampoo. Ear care doesn't require excessive effort, but it's crucial. Clean the ears no more than once a month by removing reasonable wax and dust using a specialized lotion (avoid using any foreign objects!). I prefer the Vibrac brand and their Epiotic lotion (www.dog-decor.com.ua/ru/epi-otic-advanced/).
is also a crucial aspect. I prefer a well-known classic, Orozyme gel (https://orozyme.com.ua/).
